The race was just a few days after the local marathon so I think we missed competing with some of the guys that are in his category. The marathon also runs a variety of shorter races and I think some of the guys he would normally race against may have been part of that and missed this event. Regardless, he turned in a time of 16:21 in the 5K. He finished 7th overall but was by far the fastest Junior runner out there. For comparison, the guy who won ran a 14:57. That's smoking fast.
The school meets start soon and there will be more races with WAC in the near future. He's training hard and is staying pretty focused. I think we should see some better times before the season is over.
