Shenzhen

MTR Terminal
So we finally made it to Shenzhen. It's kind of like that obligatory pilgramage to Tijuana from San Diego. Minus the tequila and the lewd acts that include a donkey. You take the MTR, which is the mass transit system, about 45 minutes north of HK. Right to the Chinese border. Go through customs to get your VISA stamped and you're in.

Shehzhen is all about shopping. For anything. Rolex, Nike, Tiffany's, Louis Vittuon, Ray Ban, Titleist, Coach, Apple, Bose, clothes and just about anything else that can be faked into something that looks high end and real. I came away with 2 pairs of Fray Bans, one Frolex, say thank you Patrick, a bunch of DVD's, all good quality so far, and Sydney actually designed and got custom fitted for a dress.

Shenzhen
The place we went to is a huge five story mall with literally thousands of little shops inside. When you first hit the ground in China, there are guys everywhere wanting to take you to their shop. If they can get you there, then the plan would be for you to buy everything you came for from them. They tell you they can get you whatever you want and from the looks of it, they probably could.

We preferred to shop on our own. Still, walking through the mall,
everyone hits you up for whatever they are selling. And if you go into one of their shops, watch out. To say it's tought to leave is an understatement.

It starts off by telling them what you want. They give you a price and then the fun begins. I typically offered less than half of their original price. For the most part, I held my ground and never paid more than 50% of their original price. Except for DVD's where I insulted one guy and he kicked me out of his cubicle. I ended up finding the exact same movies from another guy cheaper anyway. For reference, I paid $HK80 for 10 DVD's (that's about $US10.32).

I have to go back this week to pick up Sydney's dress. I'm making my list as I write this. I mean, can you ever have enough good quality fake crap? I think not!
