Welcome to the Ott journal of life as I see it in our new home, Hong Kong. From time to time I'll be posting my observations of Hong Kong as well as chronicling the activities of the family, whether it pertains to work, school or just life in general. I hope you enjoy reading about our experiences. We hope to enjoy it too.

Phuket, Thailand 2011
Here are the photos from Spring Break in Thailand. Not like Panama City or Cabo, but it worked for us. Click on the photo above to see the rest.
We stayed at a Marriot resort at the north end of Phuket. Great resort that was totally self sufficient. A little ways from the main beach area of Patong but we weren't real interested in hangin out with the lady boys!
We spent a full day on a chartered speed boat cruising all around the Gulf of Thailand. Connected to the South China sea, the Gulf is off the north east coast of Phuket between Thailand and Cambodia. Truly a spectacular place with all of the rock formations that jut out of the sea. Lots of neat little coves too. Lots of stops at lots of exotic places. The only problem was that there were lots of other boats and lots of other people doing the same thing!
We also got to do some four wheeling. Felt just like I was back in south wallerin' in the mud! Sydney had a blast and seemed to enjoy getting all splattered.
Thailand is certainly third world. I'm sure you have all see the photos of the family of four on a scooter? Well, that's pretty common. Everyone rides and there seems to be a distinct lack of rules and regulations regarding all things scooter.
Still, it only took us about 2 hours by plane so I imagine we'll go back for more in the future.
